Translating Administrative Banner: Tips, Tricks, and Tools

Presentation Length

90 minutes

Abstract

Administrative Banner seems like it has its own language, and it is definitely not the one you grew up speaking. From page names, to common jargon, to keyboard shortcuts, to trying to communicate with your favorite Programmer or Banner Support Specialist, translating Banner-speak can be a full-time job. During this session we’ll explore things like: what those 7-character form/page names actually mean; who “JobSub” is and how to review their work; how to figure out where you’ve been and where you want to be; how to sound like you’re an expert when talking to a programmer or support specialist; where/what are the parts of a Banner form/page; how keyboard shortcuts can save a life (or at least add more free time to your lifetime), and why your keyboard sometimes hates them; why there are four columns on the Enterprise Applications link-farm; where to find resources for continuous learning.
