Proposal for Presentation

Research overwhelmingly shows the benefits of actively learning compared to traditional lecture; however, some models of active learning seem daunting to implement, meeting both faculty and student resistance. In this presentation we will survey the evidence supporting active learning and give several strategies that faculty can easily introduce to their classroom to improve learning. We will also discuss strategies to improve student reception. The presenter will draw upon his experience with active learning in mathematics courses but the research findings and strategies are broadly applicable across disciplines.
