Proposal for Presentation
Challenges to teacher education due to COVID-19 are widespread. Pre-service teachers, in particular, have faced numerous obstacles as a result. As remote teaching became common in higher education, home-based videoconferencing became a standard means of teaching and learning. As this technology impacts education experiences, we studied pre-service teachers’ interactions and perceptions of Zoom’s videoconferencing platform. We specifically sought to identify the pre-service teachers’ perceptions and interactions within Zoom’s Breakout Rooms. The findings revealed specific aspects students value and that males and females value different aspects of the online environment. We conclude with recommendations regarding videoconferences in higher education and suggest future research.
