This presentation explores the implications of using stories to enhance learning in scientific education. The cause-and-effect relationships utilized in the narrative of storytelling pairs well with many of the cause-and-effect relationships found in scientific information. Storytelling uses existing neurocognitive pathways that aid in engagement, comprehension, transmission to long-term memory, improves recall, and shortens reading time. Anecdotal examples of use in secondary science classes will be discussed.
