The population of Asian International Students (AIS) in institutions of higher education in the United States is changing due to the influence of numerous factors. This presentation discusses some of these important factors, which directly or indirectly influence students’ choice of educational setting. It also discusses how expectations of AIS are changing because of these influences. Exploring these factors and understanding the needs of AIS has the potential of benefiting these students and institutions. Insights can inform practices that contribute to students’ success and affect school choice.
