Abstract
This chapter aims to determine and better understand the general characteristics of university engagement and how it has been evolving and impacting the traditional performance of tertiary education in multiple ways. Thus, this study addresses some of the trends emerging in the American higher education context to portray the global characteristics of the movement that also impact institutions worldwide. The chapter ends by discussing the dynamics involved in the trend that is reformulating American colleges and universities.
