Abstract
In this chapter we apply the differential equation-based modeling techniques developed in Chap. 1 to a marine mammal behavioral system. This research demonstrated that the same modeling techniques developed for bird behavior can be applied more broadly to other organisms. James Hayward, Shandelle Henson, and Brian Dennis, with undergraduate students Clara Logan, Catherine Parris, and Matthew Meyer, carried out this study which was initially reported in the Journal of Applied Ecology in 2005 [10].
