Abstract
Old Testament ethics informs our Christian morality in many ways. The tension is not between law and prophets as some traditionalist Protestant thinkers imply. The tension is between the law and the people. The prophets do not bring a new law, they only call people back to a meaningful observance of Old Testament law. Such concepts as Sabbath, shalom, and presence of God are morally relevant and influence Christian ethics.
