Research Ethics

Abstract

Research is a commitment. A greater scientific community can only innovate and flourish when members function together to create a climate that promotes confidence and trust in our research findings, promote free and open exchange of new ideas, acknowledges and respects intellectual contributions by others to the research community. In this session we share a report on our recent training in ethical research best practices for ethical committees and administrators of Seventh-day Adventist institutions of higher learning in Africa, and public universities from Kenya. This collaborative project between Andrews University, Office of Archives, Statistics, and Research at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Adventist University of Africa, and the Kenya National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI), titled “Promoting Research Integrity: A trainer-of-trainers seminar for investigators and ethics administrators” has resulted in calls for more training.
