Higher Education and the Great Acceleration: Preserving Human Freedom and Dignity

Abstract

A strong liberal arts education is crucial for navigating the challenges of the 21st century—from globalization and nationalism to the Great Acceleration. It also prepares students to be ethical thinkers and holistic citizens of the world and church. In these sessions we will consider the future of the liberal arts and sciences and discuss how they can prepare one for a wide range of professions and support career advancement and mobility. Of particular interest will be how a liberal arts education at Andrews serves to help students develop a resilient identity and discern their higher calling.
