Abstract

Problem. Families of Lima Drive Hispanic Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lexington, Kentucky (LDHSDAC) are going through a stage of challenges which are manifested in dysfunctional interactions between spouses, as well as on the method of teaching the children and dealing with family issues. When these inconsistencies go beyond the household, they affect the church and the effectiveness of the gospel.

Methodology. The Researcher proceeded to examine the literature about family and evangelism. An analysis of the challenges faced by the modern Latino families in North America was made, as well as the evaluation of their needs in the LDHSDAC. Based on this information a Seminary on Family Education was established in order to meet their needs.

Results. At the end of the Project, the Researcher observed positive changes in the way parents interacted with their children on areas like children education. In addition, a large number of children from Seventh-day Adventist parents attending worship services, church activities, as well as active in missionary work were noted. As a result, more families were added to the church, and a great passion to labor for Christ among individual as well as families was observed.

Conclusion. The parents who satisfy the essential needs of their children are also capable of transmitting to their children the Christian values in a more practical and effective manner. Family education with Christ as the center is a resource of double benefit for the church. It strengthens family interaction in the congregation; it also serves as a strategy to reach others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
