This poster will explore Socio-emotional Learning in the classroom. Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) is education on the skills and behaviors needed to succeed in school. It focuses on five different parts: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision making. Educators who are advocates for teaching and tracking socio-emotional learning believe that if these skills can be taught at a young age, it will benefit the students in the long run. However, the educators argue that there is not enough data to prove that teaching students SEL will do anything to benefit them. This poster will present both sides of the issue.
