Proposal for Presentation

Many people argue that it is not possible to keep democracy in the classroom, arguing that students lose the freedom of choice in the classroom when they are compelled to go to school, when other options aren't available to them. Others say the opposite, and suggest that it is the teacher's responsibility to maintain the process and idea of democracy in the classroom, arguing that characteristics of democracy in larger settings can also be attributed to the classroom. This poster will examine the arguments of practicing democracy, or lack thereof, in the classroom on a daily basis.
