A new grading system that bans the use of zero grades is becoming increasingly popular across the country. This system prevents teachers from giving out grades lower than zero, even if a student does not do the required assignments. Supporters argue that non-zero grades will help struggling students with opportunities to improve their grades by turning in late work. With teachers discouraged from giving out zeros, it is more difficult for a student to flunk a class. Those who oppose no-zero grading however, believe such a policy may lead to a belief among students that hard work and homework are not important. My poster will discuss further the positives and negatives to a no-zero grading policy.
