Based on research of the Forest School movement in Europe and her own experience teaching both at the elementary level and at Andrews University, Melissa Morgan opened a private Forest School in Berrien Springs to design, develop, and implement these principles. It also served as a demonstration school for teachers. This presentation will involve the history and philosophy of Forest School in Europe, current research on the benefits of nature-based education on learning, and Melissa’s own process of implementing the principles of these models into education. A question and answer session is included.
