Bio Sketch


Millard J. Erickson is a Protestant Christian theologian, professor of theology, and a prolific author. He has written the widely acclaimed 1312-page systematics work Christian Theology as well as 31 other books, including The Word Became Flesh, God in Three Persons, God the Father Almighty, Truth or Consequences, What Does God Know and When Does He Know It?, and Who’s Tampering With the Trinity?

Dr. Erickson is an ordained Baptist minister and has pastored both in Illinois and Minnesota. He began his teaching career in 1964 and has served as Research Professor of Theology, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, Texas); Distinguished Professor of Theology, George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University (Waco, Texas); and Distinguished Professor of Theology at Western Seminary (Portland, Oregon, and San Jose, California). He was professor of theology and academic dean at Bethel Theological Seminary (St. Paul, Minnesota) for many years. Erickson has been a visiting professor within the United States and globally (Hong Kong, Brazil, Philippines, Japan, Russia, Bulgaria, India, Guatemala, Argentina, Hungary, and Trinidad and Tobago, etc.). He earned a BA from the University of Minnesota, a BD from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, an MA from the University of Chicago, and a PhD from Northwestern University.

Dr. Erickson has been married to (Alice) Virginia Nepstad for 62 years, and they have been blessed with three daughters and four grandchildren.
