Description

The whole of Scripture is the narrative of the various missionary endeavors undertaken by God to redeem sinful humanity. Because humans are all influenced and limited by the assumptions of their social location, God took into consideration their less-than-perfect contextual frame of reference in the process of revealing his Word so that they could meaningfully relate to him. From this perspective, besides being aware of their own subjective reading of Scripture, all biblical interpreters also need to exegete their intended readers’ social location with the same rigor they apply to the exegesis of biblical texts so that their readers can respond to and make intelligent decisions in favor of the gospel.
