Abstract
The first Norwegian-American Seventh-day Adventist church was organized in December 1861 in Oakland Township, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. The first minister was John G. Matteson. Ten children of the pioneer members of the Oakland church became church workers. O. A. Olsen was president of the General Conference from 1888-1897. The others were Andrew D. Olsen, Martin M. Olsen, Edward M. Olsen, Albert J. Olsen, Anna Olsen Armitage, Ole Andres Johnson, Henry R. Johnson, Mahlon H. Serns, and Arthur Eugene Serns.
