Joseph Grady Smoot served as president of Andrews University, a Seventh-day Adventist institution of higher education in Berrien Springs, Michigan from 1976 to 1983. During his administration, the University instituted doctoral programs, developed affiliated higher education with overseas institutions, and led the University to full accreditation of its Doctor of Philosophy program.
