P-60 A Random Walk Activity to Conceptualize Hypothesis Testing

Abstract

Students in Introductory Statistics courses are frequently challenged by ideas involving bar charts and hypothesis testing. We present a kinesthetic learning activity in which student participants actively generate stochastic data by engaging in group random walks. The students analyze the resulting data using a variety of techniques, including sketching bar charts and performing t-tests.
