Abstract
Problem
The Central Quisqueya Seventh-day Adventist Church has a registered membership of 1,231 individuals, as recorded in the Adventist Church Management System (ACMS), which serves as the church’s official management tool. Of this total, approximately 600 members are active, with 80 being young people between the ages of 18 and 35. This indicates that slightly more than one-eighth of the congregation comprises young people. However, discussions with this group have revealed a considerable lack of understanding regarding the pillars of Adventism. To date, the church has not implemented any seminars or programs specifically designed to deepen young adults’ comprehension of the core principles of Adventism.
Method
To carry out this project, a research study was developed focusing on aspects of denominational doctrinal identity, with a specific emphasis on the fundamental pillars of the Adventist faith. This exploration was based on biblical literature, contemporary writings, and the works of Ellen G. White as primary points of reference. A series of six seminars was conducted, and participants’ understanding of the content presented was evaluated using pre- and post-intervention surveys.
Results
Analysis of the survey results, conducted both before and after the seminars, clearly indicates that the interventions had a positive impact on the participants’ understanding of the pillars of Adventism. The data show a moderate change (0.22–0.27 Cramer’s V score) among the thirty participants.
Conclusion
The findings of this study suggests that the seminars presented to the youth of Central Quisqueya Seventh-day Adventist, which addressed topics such as the second coming of Christ, the sanctuary, the Sabbath, the mortality of the soul, mission, and the denominational history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, led to a notable enhancement in the participants’ understanding of key aspects of Adventist identity, as demonstrated by the data collected.
