Presentation Abstract

Have you ever wondered how the Pandemic affected Asian and Pacific countries? The region covering Asian and Pacific countries range from China, Tuvalu, Australia, down to South Korea, Samoa, and even Vietnam. Asian and Pacific countries are economically mixed with some in the (1) developed stage, (2) developing stage, and (3) underdeveloped stage. The major research interest for this study was to analyze, via the International Monetary Fund (IMF), how Asian and Pacific countries fared during the pandemic. The IMF is a global organization that provides loans, monitoring, and technical assistance to over 190 countries. It is known to provide economic growth, financial stability, and poverty reduction assistance to various countries of the United Nations. The researcher will employ the Secondary Data Multivariate Analysis method to determine the economical success rate of Asian and Pacific countries pre- and post- Covid Pandemic. This method will be used to gather data from 38 countries between the years of 2010-2023. The results of this research shows that most countries within the underdeveloped category during pre-Covid years showed increased economic growth during the pandemic. Furthermore, countries who were underdeveloped pre-2020 showed significant improvement towards development and by the end of 2020, they were in the developed category. Countries within the developed category had stagnant economic growth during the pandemic.
