Abstract
The attempt to predict either an exact or an approximate date for the *second coming of Christ. Throughout the Christian era students of the books of *Daniel and *Revelation have used the prophetic times of the 3½ times (Dan. 7:25; Rev. 12:14), 42 months (Rev. 11:2; 13:5), 1260 days (Rev. 11:3; 12:6), 1290 and 1335 days (Dan. 12:11, 12), and *2300 days (Dan. 8:14) to calculate the time of either the judgment, resurrection of the dead, or second advent of Christ. Although they were disappointed when these events did not take place, they discovered that the fulfillment of these prophetic time periods were milestones in prophetic history, revealing signs of the nearness of Christ’s return.
