Proposal for Presentation

Through a brief review of the literature, this presentation explores questions about the performance expectations of educators and students in a diverse and changing world. What happens when student expectations and teacher expectations do not align? How do we differentiate the behavior we see as poor performance or misaligned expectations? Explored through the lenses of formal music education and cultural practice, the findings offer insights for resolving tensions between student and teacher expectations for academic performance.
