Proposal for Presentation

In many areas around the United States, the number of students per classroom continues to grow. The increases in class sizes are most often the result of cuts in school and district budgets. Some believe that smaller class sizes are essential because it allows for more student to teacher contact, as well as allowing teachers to be more invested in student’s emotional and mental health. Others believe that larger class sizes are not truly detrimental to a student’s mental and emotional health. In fact, larger sizes allow for more student collaboration in a less isolated learning environment. In this poster, I will be presenting both sides of this issue, the research behind class size and student achievement, and personal opinions of several students who have been affected by this topic.
