Proposal for Presentation

Research shows the effectiveness of active learning for student outcomes. In this session, we share how a Calculus course was 'flipped' in a hybrid format to allow class time to be spent doing active learning group work. Both in-person and remote students were accommodated using a variety of educational technologies. Consistent with the literature, we found that students reported higher satisfaction and outperformed traditional lecture based forms of the course. The new format was also able to accommodate a larger student population.
