Acknowledgments

The Community of Inquiry framework (CoI) presented by Garrison, Anderson, & Archer (2001) has been utilized by many researchers to explore the constructs of teaching, cognitive and social presence to create communities of collaborative inquiry.

While there have been significant findings of the importance of collaborative learning, there remains the potential for disconnect and a lack of community. Specific to faith-based institutions, the idea of implementing distance education rooted in core beliefs has opposing viewpoints.
