Proposal for Presentation
This presentation will examine three discrepancies in education theory as defined by Dewey at the turn of the 20th century (i.e. its dualistic nature, lack of firm scientific base, and subject matter vs. method), and explore their solutions in the writings of both Dewey and White. To what extent were Dewey and White’s perspectives on the three discrepancies and their corresponding solutions similar or different? What ideas made them stand out in the backdrop of the time in which they lived?
