As we have come to understand the importance of nurturing the future of our world, our children, multiple approaches have developed within education, including two contrasting preschool philosophies: academic and play-based. The decision between these two types of education plays a vital role in each child’s life, as it is his first exposure to formal education. While both cater to the same age group, each holds a different aspect of education in higher esteem. We will discuss the differences between both philosophies, additional aspects shaping parents’ decisions, and results presented in past studies of how each affects the student.
