Proposal for Presentation
Early childhood education is gaining attention from parents and educators. Following the Spirit of Prophecy, the Adventist system has historically refrained from operating preschools. Parents want safe, healthy preschools that provide good academic instruction. The Adventist’s understanding of educating the whole child lends itself well to a preschool program which will both honor the child and the parent’s desire for a solid academic foundation. The Southern Union has designed a curriculum map complete with benchmarks and indicators. In preparation for addressing enrollment issues, a review of the preschool curriculum map in relationship to the NAD’s Kindergarten essential learning is imperative.
