This study explored the experiences of English language learners in a shame-and-honor culture in Indonesia using hermeneutic phenomenology. Findings highlighted public performance fears, emotional struggles, social relationships, evolving perceptions, and learning strategies. Educators are urged to adopt a culturally sensitive approach.
