Description

This presentation offers insights into the experiences of female pastors regarding ordination into ministry. In-depth interview data with 21 female pastors in the North American Division reveals key differences between commissioning and ordination. These include patterns of harm such as being considered inferior pastors, feeling invisible to Church administrators, and sensing ongoing confusion about roles. This study is important in clarifying the issues of women’s ordination from the perspective of those most affected by Church policies.
