Biography
Keith Mattingly is dean of college of arts and sciences at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. He joined the faculty in 1984, and transitioned into to his current position in 2006.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mattingly earned a bachelor’s degree in business and religion from Andrews University in 1969. In 1972, he received a masters of divinity degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews.
In 1997, he completed his doctor of philosophy at Andrews. His dissertation is titled: The Laying on of Hands on Joshua: An Exegetical Study of Numbers 27:12-23 and Deuteronomy 34:9.
Mattingly served as a pastor in the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference from 1971 to 1977 and in the Florida Conference from 1977 to 1979. He served the U.S. Army as a chaplain from 1971-1999. A lieutenant colonel, he completed tours of duty in Germany and in the Persian Gulf War. He also enjoyed his years as associate professor and then chair of the religion department at Andrews University.
Mattingly is a member of the Society of Biblical Studies, Theta Alpha Kappa, and the Adventist Society of Religious Studies.
Keith is married to Margarita Claudia Krieghoff Mattingly. They have a son, Sean, a daughter, Claudine, and three grandchildren.
