Salud Sin Barreras: Health Without Borders

Alyssa M.G. Royster, Andrews University

Abstract

This experiential narrative seeks to acknowledge the voices of Spanish speaker with a limited knowledge in English by documenting their past experiences with healthcare services and its accessibility to them in certain regions of the United States. Being introduced to each individual interviewed, readers will become acquainted with the subjects, and be able to hear their personal stories, challenges, and opinions regarding language barriers in healthcare. My findings will reveal whether healthcare services are equipped for Spanish speakers, or whether they leave them with their essential needs unmet, due to the reparable, yet not acted upon, setback of a language barrier.
