"A fragment ca. 3.5 cm. long of the top section of a large lunate earring. The body of the original piece was obviously composed of gold foil shaped around a paste filling. Marks of the hammering of the gold foil are visible. This fragment has the top ends of the crescent abruptly narrowed into wire, the pointed ends of which could be inserted into the pierced earlobe and crossed over each other, and finally affixed by twists."
