Description:

8.7 cm. long

Flat inside. Corroded but chevron designs perhaps engraved on rounded side, at least at intervals.

Ends are broken off. Were probably flattened.

One chevron "band" is 1.4 cm. Space after that is 2.5 cm.

Gray-to-black surface soil

"The loos brown-black soil covered all four squares to a depth of ca. .10-.60 m. Small finds from Stratum 2 included objects of glass, bone, shell, plaster, and metal."

Site was a "pilgrimage and/or trade station under Aybak, the 1212-1239 Ayyubid governor of the Belqa who was an energetic builder of such stations." Yet Area B itself would not have been the site of new construction during this Ayyubid occupation, and it may hav served only as an access area for the rebuilt gate in Hael D. 1:4c" 410-1200 occup. gap in Area B
