The centerpiece of the Christmas concert is the joyful and radiant setting of Magnificat by J. S. Bach. Performed in its entirety, this 30-minute work is a unique and joyful response of Mary as recorded by Luke, the New Testament Gospel author. Magnificat is a universal celebration of hope and salvation for all people. Moreover, Mary’s response to the news of her role in ushering in the Savior of the world is a precious and honest expression; especially for those that feel undervalued, experience oppression, and are in need of empowerment and restoration to their original God-given status. Welcome Christmas concludes with tasteful arrangements of enduring Christmas favorites such as “O Come, All Ye Faithful” arranged by Dan Forrest, “What Child is This?” by David McCullough, and “Silent Night” by David Schwoebel.
