Abstract
The Hope Channel Network (HCN), in its endeavor to accomplish its mission, has developed a network strategic plan as a roadmap to success. In a complex and dynamic business environment, a strategic plan helps an organization to determine its direction and focus the efforts of the staff toward achieving its goals. However, developing a roadmap does not guarantee that HCN will reach its destination. It is crucial that the strategies formulated in the strategic planning process are implemented to achieve the desired goals. The HCN strategic plan had established goals that have not yet been fully accomplished due to ineffective implementation.
Thus, this project addresses the implementation gap that occurs when there is a discrepancy between the strategies on paper and what actually happens in the organization. To identify challenges in the implementation phase it is crucial to review the entire strategic planning process that entails the planning, implementation, and evaluation phases.
The project identified lack of adequate participation in the planning phase, the structure of the strategic plan, leadership deficiencies, and resource limitations as key factors that cause implementation gaps. These factors have been addressed by embracing a more inclusive approach of HCN entities in the current strategic planning cycle, adopting a strategic framework that provides more space for local adaptation, ensuring active involvement of leaders, and developing realistic goals that are aligned with available resources.
