Proposal for Presentation

Systemic ideologies burden faculty in academia, especially women and other marginalized populations. In particular, the stamina of female faculty is funneled into surviving a system that is inherently prejudiced against them. When women challenge these systemic ideologies, they are often dismissed and silenced—especially in instances of contrapower harassment. The role-playing game (RPG) My Time at Portia acts as an allegory of systemic ideologies and their impact on faculty dealing with contrapower harassment. Academia functions as an inadequately designed RPG where women and other marginalized populations are prevented from upgrading their tools and, therefore, are powerless to progress.
