Proposal for Presentation
This study explores university students' perceptions of ChatGPT’s impact on academia, focusing on teacher education. An online survey (N=126) examined students’ views through statistical and qualitative analysis. Findings show correlations between ChatGPT’s influence on critical thinking, problem-solving, motivation, anxiety, and academic performance. While students appreciate AI’s ability to enhance efficiency and engagement, concerns exist about over-reliance, reduced critical thinking, and academic integrity. Responses highlight the need for responsible AI integration in education, emphasizing clear guidelines and thoughtful pedagogical design. The study calls for further research to balance AI’s benefits with its potential risks in teacher education.
