Proposal for Presentation
This Capstone Unit, created during my student teaching experience, introduces probability at a seventh-grade level. Students are provided an overview of what probability is and how to calculate various problems, ranging from random experiments (flipping coins, rolling dice, picking marbles) to compound events to designing simulations to predict weather patterns! This unit used a variety of methods of instruction and manipulatives, and incorporated cross-disciplinary connections. My hope is that this unit serves as a good foundation for higher maths and opens awareness for possible career opportunities in their future.
