Abstract

The author, professor at the University of Vienna, presents 131 inscriptions related to the history of the region associated with the biblical world. In an earlier publication in 1982, JaroS already published 100 inscriptions from SyriaPalestine (1Hundert Inschriften aus Kanaan und Israel für den Hebräischunterricht bearbeitet [Fribourg: Verlag Schweizerisches Katholisches Bibelwerk, 1982]). Some of the translations have been slightly updated, especially when considering personal names or names of locations; there do not appear to be significant changes for material that was available in 1982.
