No Final Victories: 40 Years on the Frontlines of Race, Sport, and Culture An Interview with Scholar/Activist Dr. Harry Edwards
As a prelude to the 40th anniversary of the publication of his influential book, The Revolt of the Black Athlete (1969), we had the opportunity to speak at length with Dr. Harry Edwards in a series of face-to-face and telephone interviews totaling more than six hours. Our wide-ranging interview explored Edwards’ own appraisal of his “legacy,” a reflection of his contributions to scholarly and activist projects as a consideration of his work with professional sports team organizations. It is our hope to have genuinely captured the complexities, contradictions, and contributions of this important sport studies figure.
