Child obesity has almost tripled in the last 30 years. In 2012, more than one third of children were considered obese. Could the unhealthiness of school lunches be a factor? Children spend the majority of their day in school, sometimes eating both breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria. That being the case, why is there not more care going into our school lunches? Schools argue that healthy food is too expensive. It is cheaper to make more “convenient” food. Is there a way that we can make school lunches healthier and more appealing, without the high cost?
